Secret Nisse: our end-of-year gift game 🧙🏻♂️ This year we’re giving the Secret Santa a Danish twist 🇩🇰. Bring a gift, take home a surprise, and keep the giver a mystery. How it works 💡⬇️
- Bring a gift that is homemade or valued around 50 kr.
- Check in with your gift. Each gift gets a number, and a matching number goes into a bowl.
- Draw a number, bingo style, when it’s your turn.
- Take home the gift with that number. If you pull your own, put it back and draw again.
A little about the nisse. In Danish folklore, the nisse is a small, bearded farm spirit, usually pictured in gray clothes and a red cap. He is said to look after the household and its animals, as long as he is treated with respect. The traditional way to keep him happy is a bowl of rice porridge with a pat of butter on Christmas Eve. Forget it, and the nisse may play tricks on the household. Over time he became a Christmas figure, and today nisse shows up in Danish homes and windows every December 🕯️
